This position will also assist the sales team by identifying alternate items for the purposes of accelerating delivery performance.Responsibilities Review daily buying reports and place purchase orders for stock replenishment or customer orders for assigned product lines. Expedite purchase orders that are out of stock or approaching the due-date and update the NAV system with current delivery information Vendor analysis - identify why stock items are out of stock and implement action plans to prevent shortages going forward, identify alternate sources for out of stock items, reduce lead-times on fastest movers, return overstock inventory, etc. As part of this analysis, the buyer will recalculate reorder targets on a bi-monthly basis. Research and rectify root causes for receiving problems, invoice discrepancies, damages and other miscellaneous purchase order problems. Vendor negotiation - contact vendors for special pricing on one-time large buys, discounted payment terms, reduction in cost increases, blanket orders, free freight, etc. Vendor maintenance on NAV - entering and updating contact information, part number changes, cost and list price corrections, address changes, name changes, discontinued items, etc.
