PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Associate Buyer is responsible for a portion of the Buyer’s overall business and manages the processes to achieve sales, margin and inventory turnover. Assist the Buyer in execution of processes and functions for the Buyer’s merchandise area. This position is responsible for assortment planning and development, vendor negotiation marketing of assigned merchandise categories and execution of the Shopko Merchandise Strategy. Works closely with the Buyer, Merchandise Planning, Marketing and Space Planning teams to continually improve profitability. REQUIREMENTS:• BS in Business, preferably with Retail Merchandising Curricula• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills• Strong negotiation skills• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously• Ability to clearly communicate with all levels of the organization and vendors• Domestic travel—up to 4 weeks per year.DESIRED:• Previous Home/Textiles buying experience• Familiarity with Shopko merchandising and replenishment processes and systems is desirable.Shopko offers a professional team-oriented work environment, career advancement opportunities, competitive wages, & a comprehensive benefits package.
